The Waiting Season

Are you in a waiting season?

Do you feel stuck…

standing still…

wondering if life has somehow hit pause?

Maybe you’re waiting for a job promotion, a court decision, a medical diagnosis, or simply for the number on the scale to reflect all the hard work and discipline you’ve poured into your health.

I understand.

Waiting is hard.

We wait for answers.

We wait for results.

We wait for something to change.

But here’s something I’ve learned:

Just because you can’t see progress doesn’t mean progress isn’t happening.

Some of life’s greatest transformations happen quietly, beneath the surface, long before they become visible.

It’s okay not to have everything figured out. You don’t have to know every answer before taking the next step.

Worry won’t change tomorrow…

or today, for that matter.

Worry simply rehearses problems that may never happen.

The outcome isn’t ours to control. What we can control are the choices we make today, our attitude, our effort, our integrity, our willingness to keep moving forward.

Then we trust that the next chapter will unfold exactly as it’s meant to.

Just because something is taking longer than you hoped doesn’t mean it isn’t on its way.

But be careful not to become addicted to comfort.

Expectations can quietly steal our joy. Growth rarely happens where everything feels safe and familiar.

Waiting isn’t an invitation to become stagnant. It’s an opportunity to prepare for what’s next.

Sometimes life turns out better than we planned because it wasn’t limited by our imagination.

Go with the flow.

Embrace change instead of fearing it.

When you’re in a really dark place, it may feel as though you’re being buried.

But maybe you’re actually being planted.

Seeds spend time underground before anyone sees them bloom. And often, not getting what you wanted is actually protecting you from what wasn’t meant for you.

Whether you call it God’s timing, the universe, or simply life unfolding, what truly belongs in your life will not pass you by.

Take heart. Nothing in this world is permanent; not the pain, not the uncertainty, and not the waiting.

This season will pass.

Take a moment to see your situation for what it is instead of what you think it should be.

Every experience has something to teach you.

Every success.

Every disappointment.

Every mistake.

Every unexpected detour.

Each one is shaping the person you’re becoming.

Don’t be afraid to make mistakes.

Don’t expect success overnight.

Lose yourself. Find yourself. Then do it again.

Work hard, stay curious, and learn to enjoy the journey instead of rushing toward the destination.

Remind yourself often: Everything is going to be okay.

The late, great Robin Williams once said, “I don’t know how much value I have in this universe, but I do know that I’ve made a few people happier than they would have been without me. As long as I know that, I’m as rich as I ever need to be.” Perhaps that’s one of the greatest reminders of all.

Instead of measuring your life by what you’re waiting to receive, measure it by what you’re able to give.

When you’re in a waiting season, look at the people who chose to stay instead of those who walked away. Notice the ones who encourage you, believe in you, appreciate you, and make your life better simply by being part of it.

And ask yourself: “What do others gain from having me in their lives?”

Then, while you’re waiting…

Do what waiters do.

Serve.

Encourage someone.

Help someone.

Listen.

Give.

Love.

Because sometimes the answers you’ve been searching for, the growth you’ve been longing for, and the change you’ve been praying for aren’t found while waiting to be served… They’re found while serving others.
