In my adult single days, one of my adult single friends would always say, “I go where I’m invited, lest I be alone.” I never gave it much thought because, well truthfully, I didn’t mind being alone or spending time in my own company.
But, looking back, I think what she was saying was more in line with this statement.
Stop wasting your time on things that aren’t important.
Stop chasing people who don’t show up for you.
Start showing up for the ones who do.
Stop begging people to be with you or spend time with you.
People make time for what’s important to them.
Stop trying to control and figure out things in which you have no control.
Live your life with the people who want to be with you, support you and value your presence in their life.
