carry on

I’ve lost count of how many times a day I hear comments like, “Look at her [fill in the blank],” or “I’m shocked they’re wearing that.”

These remarks often focus on individuals who express themselves distinctively, such as the young woman in a crop top, the boy with painted fingernails, the older lady with rainbow hair, or the 20-something with numerous tattoos.

While I’ve made similar comments in the past, I’ve learned to reflect on their significance and ask myself:

What impact does this have on my life?

Does it cause harm to anyone?

Perhaps it enhances their self-esteem.

I recognize that I have no right to judge or criticize someone else. Instead, I choose to move on.

Simply because something may not align with my personal preferences doesn’t render it incorrect. It’s merely not my preference.

This mindset should be universally adopted. We are all unique individuals, and it’s essential to respect and celebrate our differences.

Let us be our authentic selves and carry on with our lives allowing others to do the same.
