the surround theory

Have you ever noticed that if you go into a fish market,
you come out smelling like fish?
Or if you spend time around smokers,
you end up smelling like smoke,
and you might even inhale some secondhand smoke.
The same is true in places like a flower shop.
Spend the day there, and you’ll likely leave smelling like flowers.

I know that when I walk through the perfume section of a department store,
I often come out smelling like every fragrance they carry.

It’s what I call the “surrounding theory.”
Simply put, the people, situations, and environments you surround yourself with
will eventually influence you.

So, make it a point
to choose to surround yourself with
people, places, and situations that affect you, not infect you.
